Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Years 1 & 2

Program Overview

Okanagan College, in partnership with the University of British Columbia, Okanagan (UBCO) is now offering years one and two of the four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. The curriculum for this four-year degree program is based on the Collaboration for Academic Education in Nursing (CAEN) curriculum and is recognized by the College of Registered Nurses of BC (CRNBC).  Curriculum review and revision is currently in progress in collaboration with UBC Okanagan.  The expected implementation date for the revised nursing curriculum is September 2015. Revised admission requirements such as Biology 11 and Chemistry 12 are expected to be in place for the September 2015 intake.

As a nursing student at Okanagan College, you will acquire nursing knowledge and gain practical experience in a new state-of-the-art Health Simulation Lab. Students will benefit from a learning environment that supports small class sizes, problem-based learning, and the fostering of collegial and inter-professional relationships.

Students who successfully complete all courses in years one and two at Okanagan College will be fully prepared to transfer to, and guaranteed admission, into the BSN program at UBCO to complete the final two years of the program.  Students entering the Okanagan College BSN Program, Years 1 & 2, with prior post-secondary education credits (transferable to UBC Okanagan) are advised that subject to the University of BC's residency requirement may not be able to apply all of these credits towards their nursing degree.
