Shuswap Regional Advisory Committee

The purpose of the Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) is to provide each Regional Dean with advice about community needs and OC's programs and services.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Advise OC on the comprehensive educational, research and development needs of students and of the region in general.
  • Review and provide advice in areas of planning and policy issues from a regional perspective.
  • Work with the OC Foundation in support of fund raising activities to benefit the region and the institution.
  • Communicate and promote OC’s activities and interests within the region.
  • Help identify partnership opportunities within the region.
  • Participate in search committees and evaluation processes as requested.
  • Recommend to the Board, through the Regional Dean, ongoing membership of the RAC.
  • Identify and participate in the development of special projects.
  • Adhere to policies of the OC Board of Governors and to operate in keeping with the standards of the institution.
  • Participate in OC promotional and lobbying activities at the request of the Board.
  • Provide an annual report to the Board on the RAC’s activities and interests.
  • Maintain communication with other RAC’s.

The Shuswap Regional Advisory Committee is seeking new members with a keen interest in the advancement of post-secondary education in the Shuswap. We are seeking both members at-large and representatives from sectors of significance to the Shuswap Region (eg health, business, trades etc).

The Regional Advisory Committee advises on post-secondary educational needs in the Shuswap Region and serves as a communication link between communities and Okanagan College.

This committee meets bi-monthly. Interested residents from all communities in the Shuswap are encouraged to contact Margaret Scharf at (250) 832-2126 ext 8238.
