Ritsumeikan UniversityRitsumeikan University, founded in 1900, is located in Northwestern Kyoto, a 1200 year old city rich in culture and art. Ritsumeikan University enjoys a rich and prominent history and is considered one of the most distinguished institutions of higher learning and research in Japan.The Study in Kyoto program is offered at the Kinugasa Campus which is surrounded by such auspicious temples as Kinkakuji, Ryoanji, Ninnaji, and Tojiin,a suitably tranquil setting for research and learning.

Ritsumeikan University offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate programs to approximately 34,000 students in such fields as Humanities, International Relations, Law, Policy Science, Social Sciences, Economics, Business Administration and Science & Engineering.

The university also provides a stimulating academic environment for international education and research through its global network spread over forty countries and regions. PROGRAM COST

OC study abroad students pay OC tuition fees to OC.  They retain their status as students of OC and are eligible for any student loans or scholarships for which they would normally qualify.  They must pay for their own travel, accommodation, food, textbooks, and other personal expenses. The OC Global Communities Award was established to assist some students with travel costs.  Information is available at www.okanagan.bc.ca/financialaid/

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for study abroad at Ritsumeikan University, OC students must have:

  • Completed two years of full-time study (minimum 80% course load) at OC
  • A minimum GPA of at least B (72%)
  • A letter of recommendation from a faculty advisor or department chair

APPLICATION PROCESS

Applicants must submit an application form (available on our website or in the OC International Office) with a current resume, a letter of support from a faculty advisor, and a brief essay outlining why they wish to pursue study abroad.  Send applications to:  Study Abroad Program, OC International, 1000 KLO Road, Kelowna BC  V1Y 4X8 or drop them off in Room H121 at the Kelowna Campus.

APPLICATION DEADLINE

  • End of January for study abroad commencing in September
  • End of November for study abroad commencing in April
