Car raffle raises thousands for trades students at Okanagan College
Okanagan College Media Release

Okanagan College has an additional few thousand dollars to hand out to deserving trades students following the successful raffling of a 1989 Mercedes-Benz, which took place on Saturday.Car Raffle Winner June 2013

Leo Doody of Kelowna was the winner of the car raffle, which helped raised more than $4,000. The money will go to support trades-based scholarships and bursaries.

The vehicle was donated to the College last month by Ute Koessler, who has donated many items to the College over the years including a valuable set of tools worth more than $85,000, and more recently premium photography equipment.

“We are very grateful to Ms. Koessler for all that she has done to support the College,” said Kathy Butler executive director of the Okanagan College Foundation. “This is the first time we’ve had the opportunity to raise money in this way, and from all appearances it was a great success.”

Incorporated in 2000, the Okanagan College Foundation raises and manages private resources for the development and expansion of educational programs, services, capital projects, and student financial aid through scholarships, bursaries, and grants.
