Kelowna campus hosts The Bill Good Show March 19
Okanagan College Media Release

Okanagan College will be hosting one of British Columbia’s best-known radio talk shows on March 19, when CKNW’s Bill Good lands in the Kelowna campus’s Centre for Learning.

“The Bill Good Show is travelling to key cities in British Columbia in the lead up to the provincial election to learn more about the hot button issues facing the electorate,” explained producer Jessica Gares.

From 8:30 to noon that morning, the show will cover tourism and Okanagan wine, agriculture and the challenges facing local fruit growers, the Interior’s growing tech sector, recreational real estate and local and provincial politics with AM 1150 morning host Phil Johnson.

A regional hot-button topic is on the agenda and that’s the current image and reputation of Kelowna.

“We’ll sit down with Mayor Walter Gray to discuss why Kelowna is being described by some people as ‘paradise lost’ due to a growing population and growing gang problems,” said Good.

“I’m always happy to talk about Kelowna, and doing it on the Bill Good Show allows us to speak to people across the province about why Kelowna has been and continues to be a safe and dynamic place to visit,” said Kelowna Mayor Walter Gray. “I know we’ll talk about many aspects of Kelowna that will be positive news to people outside the Okanagan Valley.”

The public is invited to attend to watch for free, but will need to use the College’s overflow parking that morning, which is located at the Evangel Church at 3261 Gordon Drive. Parking will be free that morning.

The Bill Good Show boasts the Number 1 position in talk show audiences in the Lower Mainland during its 8:30 a.m. to noon time slot with adults 18 and older. On an average day 116,499 listeners tune in to hear The Bill Good Show on CKNW.

As the host of one of the most respected radio talk shows in Canada, Good is well known for his “no rules” style and his incisive questioning. Son of legendary broadcaster Bill Good Sr., he grew up with radio in his blood. He has interviewed prime ministers, sports heroes, stars of the screen, and star witnesses. In addition to his regular exposure on CKNW AM 980, Good is also the former news anchor of CTV Vancouver, making him one of the most recognizable newsmen in Western Canada.
