Spotlight on Business event broadens career prospects

If you have a head for business, it’s time to consider getting your head into Okanagan College.

On Thursday, March 14, Okanagan College is hosting Spotlight on Business, from 4:30 – 6 p.m. at the Vernon campus.

This educational showcase will provide attendees with information on degree, diploma and certificate programs within the broad scope of business – everything from marketing to management, accounting to finance, human resources, hospitality and tourism.

“This is a sit-down session with opportunities to speak with students, successful graduates and current professors regarding the numerous career opportunities that can be found with a business education,” said Program and Event coordinator Jamie Morrow.

Students will also have a chance to learn more about the College’s co-op program and extensive Study Abroad program, which provides Okanagan School of Business students the opportunity to take their studies at a number of international post-secondary institutions.

Okanagan School of Business has developed a national reputation for excellence thanks in part to students’ performance at various competitions, including the prestigious Inter-Collegiate Business Competition held every year at Queen’s University.

Many business students have also been active in the non-profit organization Enactus Okanagan College (formerly SIFE Okanagan), earning awards for their business efforts in support of various community projects.

“Through a combination of both education and practical experience, students at Okanagan College’s School of Business gain a solid understanding of what it takes to get business done,” Morrow said. “That’s something employers truly appreciate.”

Everyone who attends will be entered into a draw for a $500 tuition voucher.

The session will take place in Room D344. Parking is free.
