Okanagan College Practical Nursing students offer public latest information on flu season
Okanagan College Media Release

Anyone with questions about flu season can get the latest information direct from Practical Nursing students on site at the Cherry Lane Shopping Centre in Penticton Saturday.

Three students, Marie Walker, Megan Newby and Robyn Becher, will be at Cherry Lane from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. providing information about flu season as part of their studies in health promotion.

“Informing the public can help people make confident choices,” Walker said.

As part of that, the students hope to help the public understand that vaccinations are not so much about protecting the individual, but the community as a whole.

“This is the first time students have taken a flu awareness campaign into the community,” said the students’ instructor Dana Susheski. “Taking something like this on helps students with their education in a very real and practical way.”
