Allan Coyle
Director, Public Affairs

Allan Coyle, Okanagan College's Director of Public Affairs, is a member of the Canadian Public Relations Society and has worked in post-secondary education in the Okanagan since 1998. Before that, he was owner of a successful public relations firm, and had enjoyed a career as a journalist and editor.

He has written extensively for magazines, and has volunteered his PR and marketing expertise to several non-profit initiatives and agencies. He recently finished an eight-year term as a member of the Board of Directors of the Kelowna YMCA.

Tyler Finley
Manager, Marketing and Communications

Tyler joined the Public Affairs team in April 2016. He was born and raised in Kelowna and earned a B.A. in English from UBC Okanagan in 2009, followed by graduate studies-level training in English and University Learning and Teaching from UBC, in addition to other training and professional development in Communications and Digital Media.

Prior to joining the Public Affairs team, Tyler worked as Marketing and Communications Specialist for the Okanagan College Foundation and as a program manager for a national non-profit youth outdoor education initiative. He has a passion for storytelling in all forms, from writing to photography and video, and in his spare time provides communications support to a number of local youth, outdoor and mental health initiatives.



Michelle Lowry
Executive Assistant to the Director Public Affairs

Michelle joined the department of Public Affairs in July 2005, taking on the role of Executive Assistant to the Director.  She received a certificate in Office Administration from Okanagan University College in June 2003.  Since graduation Michelle has worked in the President’s Office, the Dean’s Office for Science, Technology and Health and Public Affairs.
Michelle works closely with the Director of Public Affairs, Manager of Recruitment, staff in Public Affairs and the President’s Office to organize events, such as Career Fair, the Spaghetti Bridge Building Competition and Convocation Ceremonies.

Holly Stevens
Marketing and Communications Specialist

Holly joined the Public Affairs team this month as Marketing and Communications Specialist. Born and raised in Kelowna, she earned a B.A. in English from the University of British Columbia Okanagan in 2013 and an Advanced Certificate in Communications from Okanagan College in 2015. Upon graduation, she went on to complete a Certificate in Strategic Public Relations from the University of Toronto in 2016. 

Holly comes to Okanagan College with a communications and marketing background in professional sports and local residential development as well as freelance writing, planning, and researching. Holly spends her spare time golfing and enjoying life with her family and new husband.


Len Nickel

Len is a fine artist and a designer. He is an Okanagan College graduate with a diploma in Graphic Design. Len also has a four-year diploma in Fine Arts from Emily Carr College of Art and Design and a diploma in Electronic Design. Len has worked in various positions in both in-house designer and freelance. He also has a background in Internet Design and Internet Graphics. Most recently Len has worked in Newspaper with a focus on ad design and brochure layout.

Len enjoys oil painting, digital painting, computers and reading up on science and physics.


John Wecels

John comes from Calgary and has more than 20 years of experience in the graphic design industry. John's professional experience ranges from working with multinational corporations to small independent businesses.

John spent four years at Mount Royal University where he was a graphic designer in the department of external relations. John grew up in the Okanagan and is very happy to be living and working in the valley. He is also looking forward to building on Public Affairs’ past successes and contributing to the Okanagan College community.
