Allan Coyle

Allan Coyle, Okanagan College's Director of Public Affairs, is a member of the Canadian Public Relations Society and has worked in post-secondary education in the Okanagan since 1998. Before that, he was owner of a successful public relations firm, and had enjoyed a career as a journalist and editor.

He has written extensively for magazines, and has volunteered his PR and marketing expertise to several non-profit initiatives and agencies. He recently finished an eight-year term as a member of the Board of Directors of the Kelowna YMCA.

Christine joined Public Affairs in July 2006. She grew up in Kelowna and attended the University of British Columbia (Vancouver) where she played varsity field hockey and earned a B.A. in Political Science. Upon graduation, Christine moved to Boston Massachusetts, completing a Master’s degree in Journalism at Boston University.

Her professional experience includes contract work as a writer, research in analytic journalism, and marketing and communications experience with a crown corporation. She has a passion for amateur sport and has contributed to several multi-sport games including the Toronto 2015 Pan Am Games, 2015 Canada Winter Games, and BC Summer Games.

Christine has also taught communications in the faculty of Arts at Okanagan College.

Michelle Lowry

Michelle joined the department of Public Affairs in July 2005, taking on the role of Executive Assistant to the Director.  She received a certificate in Office Administration from Okanagan University College in June 2003.  Since graduation Michelle has worked in the President’s Office, the Dean’s Office for Science, Technology and Health and Public Affairs.
 
Michelle works closely with the Director of Public Affairs, Manager of Recruitment, staff in Public Affairs and the President’s Office to organize events, such as Career Fair, the Spaghetti Bridge Building Competition and Convocation Ceremonies.

Axelle joined Public Affairs as the Marketing and Communications Specialist in 2015. She earned a B.A. Honours in English from the University of British Columbia and holds a certificate in public relations from Simon Fraser University. She has extensive experience in public relations and worked in one of Canada’s leading communications agencies where she supported clients with media relations, strategic communications planning, social media content creation, and event activations.

Previously she has been a PR consultant for a photography studio, worked in event management and sales for a catering company, and volunteered on the marketing committee with Starlight Children’s Foundation.

Born in France, and raised in Vancouver, Axelle is bilingual in French and English. She recently moved to Kelowna from Vancouver with her husband, and in her spare time enjoys cooking and running.

Tory Braun

Tory is thrilled to joining Public Affairs as Marketing and Communications Specialist. 

Tory studied arts at Okanagan College before transferring to Simon Fraser University, where she graduated with a B.A. in Environmental Science and certificate in Cultural Resource Management. 

Tory has an extensive experience in marketing and communications, most recently in managing the marketing program for a national corporation. She has assisted in launching brands, building social media programs, designing websites and developing communications strategies in both the non-profit and private sectors.  

Originally from Mississauga, Ontario, Tory has called B.C. home for the last 12 years and has resided in Kelowna the last four years. In her spare time she plays recreational sports and is active in the local arts and culture scene. Tory volunteers on committees for Lake Country ArtWalk and the Kelowna Art Gallery.

Tyler Finley

Tyler Finley joined the Public Affairs team in April 2016. He was born and raised in Kelowna and earned a B.A. in English from UBC Okanagan in 2009, followed by graduate studies-level training in English and professional development in Communications and Digital Media.

Prior to joining the Public Affairs team, Tyler worked as Marketing and Communications Specialist for the Okanagan College Foundation and as a program manager for a national non-profit arts and environmental education initiative. He has a passion for writing of all forms, from fiction to journalism to scholarly writing, and supports a number of local youth organizations as a volunteer tutor, mentor, and consultant.

He usually has a camera in hand (and, yes, a selfie-stick on occasion).

Len is a fine artist and a designer. He is an Okanagan College graduate with a diploma in Graphic Design. Len also has a four-year diploma in Fine Arts from Emily Carr College of Art and Design and a diploma in Electronic Design. Len has worked in various positions in both in-house designer and freelance. He also has a background in Internet Design and Internet Graphics. Most recently Len has worked in Newspaper with a focus on ad design and brochure layout.

Len enjoys oil painting, digital painting, computers and reading up on science and physics.

John comes from Calgary and has more than 20 years of experience in the graphic design Industry. John's professional experience ranges from working with multinational corporations to small independent businesses.

John spent four years at Mount Royal University where he was a graphic designer in the department of external relations. John grew up in the Okanagan and is very happy to be living and working in the valley. He is also looking forward to building on Public Affairs’ past successes and contributing to the Okanagan College community.
