On Wednesday, April 29 over 150 donors, volunteers and friends of Okanagan College gathered in the Centre for Learning Atrium for the 2015 Kelowna Donor Recognition Ceremony. Guests enjoyed an evening of inspired food and wine pairings by Okanagan College's Culinary and Pastry Arts students and instructors.
Okanagan College President Jim Hamilton spoke about the incredible impact that donors have on Okanagan College’s mission to transform lives and communities.
Okanagan College Foundation Executive Director Kathy Butler and Raghwa Gopal, Vice-President At Large for the Foundation, shared highlights of donor support over the past year.
Donor David Perron gave an inspiring speech about why he has chosen to invest in the futures of students at Okanagan College and what makes this giving so rewarding, from a donor’s perspective.

This event came on the heels of the Vernon Donor recognition event, which took place on March 31. Okanagan College Board of Governors Chair Tom Styffe and Okanagan College Foundation President Alf Kempf acknowledged donors and shared highlights of donor impact and student success at the Vernon campus in 2014/2015 to date.
Guests were also treated to an engaging presentation by Dr. Beverlie Dietze, Director of Learning and Teaching; Canadian expert in outdoor play, and Fiona Barton from Outland Design Landscape Architecture, about an exciting research project by the College, in partnership with local governments and community organizations.
The project, studying creative, interactive, and sustainable outdoor play installations is intended to supports our regions efforts to build spaces that benefit children’s social, cognitive, physical, and emotional development.
Vernon Mayor Akbal Mund was in attendance, as well as representatives from numerous community organizations throughout the Vernon area.
Overall, the event was a fantastic opportunity to interact with our donors and community partners and acknowledge everything they do throughout the year to help make Okanagan College an even better place.
