What is the OC Student Employment Program?
The Program is designed to provide work experience through part-time jobs on OC campuses for OC students.
Who Is Eligible To Participate?
Okanagan College students who are Canadian or who have Canadian Permanent Resident Status (i.e. Domestic students) enrolled in degree, diploma or certificate programs that are taking a minimum of two courses per semester and are in good academic standing are eligible to participate.
International Okanagan College students enrolled in degree, diploma or certificate programs that are taking a minimum of three courses per semester and are in good academic standing are eligible to participate. (Please note: If an International Okanagan College student is in the last semester of study with less than three (3) courses remaining, there may be an exception to the three (3) course minimum.)
During the summer term (May-August), Domestic and International students must have been enrolled as described above and have intent to return to OC in the next fall term.

Download and Complete the OC Student Employment Application located in the Forms section. Hard copies are available in the Student, Graduate & Co-op Employment Centre in Kelowna or the Administration offices in Salmon Arm, Vernon and Penticton Campuses.
What Kind Of Jobs Are Available?
There are approximately 300 students employed annually in a variety of jobs including Research Assistants, Learning Centre Assistants, Peer Mentors, Recreation Facility Assistants and Computer Lab Monitors.
When Should I Apply For A Job?
Students are encouraged to apply for positions as soon as they see them posted. Some posted in April or May will start in September. Supervisors want to make sure they have people hired to start right away in the fall, so don’t wait, apply right away.

How Do I Apply for Jobs?
If a Supervisor selects you for a job they will complete the bottom portion of the OC Student Employment Application Form. Bring your signed application form & resumé to the Student, Graduate & Co-op Employment Office in Kelowna, or the Administration Office in Salmon Arm, Penticton, or Vernon. You then need to download or pick up and complete your Banking Information form, TD1 & TD1BC Income Tax forms, along with the Assignment of Wages, employment information confirmation sheet and Student Contract. If you require help with any of the forms, please ask at the centres and we will be pleased to assist you.
Remember, you need to complete all remaining employment paperwork in order for you to start work and get paid. You will become an OC student employee, subject to all regulations and procedures related to student employment.
How Much Can I work?
Students can work a maximum of 15 hours per week during the Sept–Dec and Jan–April terms. During the summer term, May–August, students can work a maximum of 35 hours per week. The maximums are for all student jobs combined, so please make sure you are not working more than allowed. This includes Student Employment and IT Services Monitor positions combined.
How Do I Get Paid?
You and your supervisor must complete and sign a bi-weekly timesheet. Your supervisor submits the timesheet to the Student, Graduate & Co-op Employment Centre by the deadline for each pay period. It is important to always get your timesheet in on time. You will be paid bi-weekly by direct deposit.
