Testing

Language Proficiency Index (LPI)

 

Students may write the LPI to satisfy the English academic admission requirement for some Okanagan College programs. Please refer to the program listing for specific English requirements.

Click here for the schedule of Okanagan 2012 sittings. Information on how to register to write the LPI, and dates and locations for the LPI sittings are available online. Results must be submitted no later than July 31 for admission to programs starting in September.

Applicants outside B.C. can call the LPI office at (604) 822-4146 or visit their website.

ABLE Math and English Test (Trades Test)

 

Satisfactory standing in basic math and reading tests is required for entrance to all Entry Level Training (Trades) programs (except the AME program). Please see individual program listing for admission requirements to your program.

Office Administration Testing

All Office Administration testing is done by appointment only. Contact Angela Checkley at the Kelowna Learning Centre at (250) 762-5445, local 4427 or 4489 to set up your appointment time.

Adult Academic and Career Preparation Skills Assessment

Applicants wishing to enter some Adult Academic and Career Preparation (Adult Basic Education) courses may be required to complete a skills assessment test if they do not meet specific course prerequisites or to determine the level which would best suit their needs. Assessment dates and times are available at the Registrar's Office, campus offices, or online. See also Adult Academic and Career Preparation programs in the calendar for more information.

Diagnostic Tests

Testing times and dates are available at the Learning Centre in Kelowna or Regional Campus counselling offices. Find out more about some of the diagnostic exams on the Kelowna Learning Centre's website.

Computer Competency Test

Computer Information Systems students may write the Computer Competency Test to satisfy the computer studies admission requirement for the Diploma and Degree program. Please contact the Learning Centre in Kelowna to schedule your test.

Mathematics Diagnostic Test

Any person requesting admission to the following programs (see chart below), must demonstrate proficiency in the indicated area of Mathematics. The indicated diagnostic test may be used to satisfy the math admission requirement.
