Low English or Math Admit

If you've been admitted with either a Low English or a Low Math mark, please see additional details on how to meet your requirement(s) in the drop-down menus below. Visit your myOkanagan account > Applicant tab > View my Applications to find out which mark is low.

You will have one year to complete the English requirement. Your options to complete the requirement are:
  • You may write the Language Proficiency Index (LPI) exam. A grade of 24/40 or Level 4 is required to meet the English 12 requirement.
  • You may take upgrading courses though Okanagan College's Adult Academic and Career Preparation program. We offer English 12 at all our campuses.
  • Look through the Testing page to find alternate ways to meet the requirement.
Under these circumstances you will not be allowed to register in any 1st year English courses.

You will have one year to complete the math requirement. Your options to complete the requirement are:
  • You may take upgrading courses through Okanagan College's Adult Academic and Career Preparation program. We offer Mathematics 12 at all of our campuses.
  • If you have completed Principles of Mathematics 11 with a minimum grade of 67% you may enrol in Mathematics 120 - Pre-Calculus.
  • You can write the Calculus Readiness Test.
  • Look through the Testing page to find alternate ways to meet the requirement.
Under these circumstances you will not be allowed to register in Math 112; Chem 111; Cosc 111 or Phys 111.

Business

You will have one year to complete the English requirement. Your options to complete the requirement are:

You may take English ENGL 012 at Okanagan College or retake English 12 or TPC 12 through a secondary or alternate school.  See Adult Academic and Career Preparation (AACP) programs and courses listed in the Okanagan College Calendar or your high schools website. 

You may also complete an equivalent course by distance education, or you may write the Language Proficiency Index (LPI) test.  The LPI test is scheduled throughout the year at various locations in BC.  You need a minimum score of level 4 on the LPI to meet the diploma program’s entrance requirement and a minimum score of level 5 to meet the degree program's entrance requirement.  Visit the LPI website www.lpitest.ca for LPI costs, review materials, scheduled test dates, and locations.  If you pass the LPI test it is your responsibility to send your LPI results to Okanagan College Admissions Office.  

Under these circumstances you will only be allowed to register in 3 of the following courses per semester:

  • BUAD 111
  • BUAD 116
  • BUAD 123
  • BUAD 128
  • ECON 125


You will have one year to complete the math requirement. Your options to complete the requirement are:

In the coming year, you may take math upgrading classes through Okanagan College or through a secondary or alternate school.  See Adult Academic and Career Preparation (AACP) programs and courses listed in the Okanagan College Calendar or your high school’s website. 

You may also complete an equivalent course by distance education, or write the Okanagan College Math Diagnostic Test (MDT).  You’ll find further information on the MDT, including sample questions, on the Okanagan College website here:  http://www.okanagan.bc.ca/administration/students/learning-centres/Kelowna/learning-centre-tests.html.

Under these circumstances you will only be allowed to register in 3 of the following courses per semester:

  • BUAD 116
  • BUAD 123
  • BUAD 128
  • ECON 125
  • A non-business elective
